What is EAP?
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is an
effective mode of therapy and treatment for at-risk populations,
providing a powerful, effective, interesting and fun therapeutic
alternative. A licensed therapist partners with an equine specialist,
creating life-changing experiences to promote emotional growth and
learning and to treat psychological, behavioral, emotional and
communication functions for humans of all ages.
EAP is experiential in nature. Licensed
clinical professionals lead activities with horses, which will require
the client or group to apply certain skills. Participants learn about
themselves and others by participating in the activities, then
processing and discussing feelings, behaviors and patterns. The focus of EAP is not riding or horsemanship. 90% of EAP takes place purely on the
ground. Non-verbal communication, assertiveness, creative thinking,
problem-solving, leadership, work ethic, responsibility, teamwork,
confidence and attitude are several examples of the results achieved by
EAP, making an incredible impact on individuals, youth, families, and
groups. Professional therapy team at
Head, Heart, Hands and Horses specialize in the treatment of mental
health issues including abuse, ADHD, anxiety, anger management, behavior
disorders, depression, grief, OCD, PTSD, self-injury and trauma.

What makes this Therapy?
During EAP sessions a professional EAGALA
certified EAP therapy team, consisting of a licensed clinical therapist
and an equine specialist, team up with one or more horses in a
collaborative effort to provide experiential (hands-on), solution -
focused activities while interacting with the horses. Following each
activity, thoughts, feelings and solutions are discussed. For more
