| Head, Heart, Hands and Horses offers a varied array of
equine assisted services from Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) to after-school experimental riding groups.
Head, Heart, Hands and Horses was
developed as a part of a residential treatment center for at-risk
adolescent males. Following the success these approaches had with his
clients, Mark Lytle branched out on his own with support from Hand Up
Homes for Youth, Inc., to begin offering these services to others in
need.
Head, Heart, Hands and
Horses partners with professionals in the mental health field,
therapeutic riding instructors and other equine specialists to provide a
full range of needs for our clients.
Why Horses?
Horses have the ability to heal both physically and emotionally. They
have distinct personalities and attitudes, and experience a variety of
emotions. Due to innate "prey" behavior, horses read and mirror body
language and emotion. They have no hidden agendas and focus only on the
safety of "honest" intentions. Being large powerful animals, they create
a natural opportunity to empower-overcome fear and develop confidence.
Their sheer size and strength alone are naturally intimidating. The
various trails and achievements experienced while working with horses
provides wonderful metaphors instilling life-long skills that will carry
over into other challenging situations in everyday life. |
Is this right, wrong or just
different?
